ABOUT THE AUTHOR
RUSS CRAWFORD
“Most people learned about the events of 1972 after the market moved. Russ Crawford was there while it was happening.”
He began his career with Cargill just one year before the events of 1972 unfolded, giving him a rare, insider view of the trade that would permanently shift global food prices.
Over a 50-year career in commodity trading and Canadian agriculture, he witnessed firsthand how information, timing, and strategy move markets long before the world catches on.
Limit Up is the story behind that moment—told by someone who knew some of the people involved and was close enough to see what really happened.
He is also the author of Canadian Samurai (2020) and Western Barley’s Legacy (2024).
Russ lives in Calgary with his wife of over 50 years, surrounded by a growing family of three sons, their wives and seven grandchildren.
